seizeHaving a lazy weekend.  Haven’t been feeling well.  Yesterday, I was so tired I felt like I was going to fall asleep at a light.  To emphasize how tired I was, I couldn’t read.  I kept reading the same page over and over again, then forgetting where I was and starting at the top of the page.  I’ve only had that happen to me one other time that I could remember.  So I’ve been having a Terminator marathon, first the movies, then the TV show.  Fun stuff.

Hope you enjoy this week’s snippet.

Sir Lionel had happily given up his bedroll for the duo, even if Amara would have argued against it to her last breath.  She was a feisty one at times, but he could see how she was broken in many ways.  She monitored their direction of travel constantly, always on attention, always alert.  Even when they made camp for the night, when she wrapped around David’s tiny bulk on the bedroll — protecting him like an animal protecting its young with its own body — she’d been alert.  She’d eyed him warily long after David drifted into sleep.  The knight suspected she viewed the vulnerability of sleep as a weakness she couldn’t afford.  Perhaps it hadn’t been, the thought breaking his heart.
