Progress Report: Sometimes I hate my writing

So, since last week’s post, I did work some on the episode 2 script for the podcast I’m looking to start. Probably about 2k words so far. Not too bad. Didn’t get any time to continue working on it today, but then I didn’t really have time to work on anything until about 6PM because of some plans I had this afternoon.

As for Matched to the Alien Prince, I haven’t even looked at the cover since last week, nor have I worked on the blurb. I finished writing the book on Monday. I’ve been focused since then on making decent progress in Draft 2 (which is where the comment in the title comes from). I wrote the book almost exclusively during NaNoWriMo, and it feels terrible. Not the plot, mind you, the writing. The writing feels terrible. There’s so many comments and highlights to fix in the next draft. I’m not looking forward to it. For the most part, the pacing looks good, though the middle might be a little delayed. I reached 25% in the scene by scene part of Draft 2 today.

I also came up with an idea to create randomization tables for writing. Maybe not necessarily for writer’s block or anything like that, but for picking things that I might not care about like the life lesson for a character (which was the table I created). When I really don’t care which I choose, it can be hard to decide and I end up dwelling on it for too long. I’m planning to try it out with the next book.

Which brings me to the next book, which will probably be called Matched to the Alien Captain. I started working on the plot for that one and have a few good, higher level ideas.

Anyway, that’s all I have for now. Until next time,

Danielle
