Well, Matched to the Alien Prince has performed better for its launch than any of my previous books. In fact, this month has me making more royalties than any other month since I started in 2019. Admittedly, I also spent way too much on ads before the book launched, which I don’t plan on doing in the future. I don’t think it helped anything, but it has been nice seeing that change. I’d been starting to feel like things were stagnating and this gives me hope that things will improve in the future.
I just approved the paperback for Matched to the Alien Prince for distribution, so it should (hopefully) be showing up on Amazon and such soon. Still waiting on the hardcover.
This week has been a lot of planning. Planning out Matched to the Alien Captain. Planning out episodes for Fated Mates of the Drakoan. Planning out a subscription membership. I’m really excited (and nervous) about the serial. I think it will be fun, and the ideas I’m coming up with for the episodes do sound like fun. I also like the idea of having something I’m more accountable to. To do a serial, I can’t go through these fits and starts where I do nothing for a spell then finish things in a mad dash (which is super stressful).
I do feel like I’ve been more present this week, more consistent, though not this weekend. This weekend I haven’t wanted to do anything. In fact, I keep sleeping in. I got up two hours late today, and I went to bed on time last night. Yesterday, I spent most of the day watching YouTube videos and playing the Sims. I’m still trying to decide the best way to romance a werewolf in the game. The challenge, of course, is where the fuck do I find one… I also have one sim in university, which is challenging. I forgot how much work it was. At least with a lot of other things, you can just send them off to work and be done with it, but with university, you’ve got absurd amounts of homework, term papers, presentations. I feel like every sim in the household has been stalled out because I sent one of them to college.
Anyway, back to related topics, I’ve been working on the blurb for Matched to the Alien Captain. I’ve got about 2 paragraphs I really like, but I’m struggling a little bit with the rest. Here’s what I’ve got so far.
Sarah has a dark secret…
And because of that secret, she’s upended her life, changed jobs, alienated her friends, and frequently loses herself in smutty romance novels in a desperate attempt at escapism. But there’s one thing that could actually grant her that escape, and she just got the call.
Excited to escape her old life and meet her perfect, alien match, she’s sitting on the edge of her seat, taking in the beautiful landscape flying by beneath them, when the spaceship crashes into the desolate, frozen wasteland of the planet’s mountains.
It needs something after that, but I’m still working on what that’ll be.
Until next time,
Danielle
