I feel like I was largely useless this month. Total time logged was pitiful, but I guess the important part is achieving my launch dates, and so far I haven’t missed a single one. I’m concerned about the launch date for The Darkest Day Collection paperback, but I never anticipated print TATs of 22+ days to get a proof copy. Still, I’m crossing my fingers. I still have another 15 days until the launch and I paid for 2 days shipping so it should be fast once it prints.

Shifting Sides (Book 0 of A Shift in Space series) is moving along, thought I absolutely could have gotten more done in August. I’ve started on the brainstorming for Book 3. Kind of playing around with titles. Haven’t locked on anything just yet but Shifting Paradigms seems to be sticking for now…

Came up with an idea for a new series (Bad Dani!) which has caught my interest. The series may or may not be linked to my first two (I might just leave it open ended for now). It involves an alien race that have invited a human colony onto their planet. The two races don’t get alone terribly well (the humans tend to call the sort of reptilian race “dragons” as a racial slur). I’m playing around a lot with having the disenfranchised finding a place they belong in each story. It’s also an opportunity for me to completely reimagine a NaNoWriMo story I wrote and absolutely hated back in 2018-2019. I’ve already come up with 3 story ideas for the series (Again, Bad Dani!).

Sometimes I just can’t help myself…

Lessons Learned:

• I seem to forget how well I work in a time crunch.
• I really, really think I have Inattentive ADHD…

Deadline Status: Not on time, but blame IngramSpark… and the coronavirus…

End of August Goal: Start Draft 2. Create Cover Art. Create blurb (flex goal).

Progress:  Draft 2 = 37%. Didn’t start cover art. Family was visiting for about a week and a half so…

Deadline Status: On time (though I would have loved to have gotten more done).
