What I’m Reading
I’m currently reading an omegaverse series, and for the most part, I’m really liking it. The characters and plots and such are complex and well thought out, but I almost want to strangle the author for the 3rd act breakups. They make no sense!!!! In the current book, I literally have an FMC who insists on “returning to her life” when she has nothing to go back to! No job! No partner! No apartment! She’ll literally be moving back in with her parents. Now, if she’d said she needed to spend time with them after so long apart or she needed time to figure herself out? That I would understand. She’s been through hell and these guys are basically offering her the world, which could be overwhelming and easy to make a bad decision if made in a vacuum, but that’s not what she did. They’re literally offering her a job she might actually enjoy and find rewarding, an absolutely MASSIVE home, and three guys who would do anything for her. Like I just don’t understand.
And the previous book in the series was the same way. A manufactured justification for the 3rd act breakup that made absolutely no sense. And again, the author COULD have made it make more sense but they didn’t, instead having them split for a superficial reason with nobody fighting for what they want or every fucking talking. Just a little talking would have gone a long way.
Like this author has so much potential, and it just makes these 3rd act breakups seem to come out of nowhere. They feel so out of place, like the author rammed it in there thinking it was necessary for a romance book to have.
Anyway, I guess if I wasn’t so invested in the books and characters, it wouldn’t bug me quite so much. Hope you’re having a satisfying reading experience.
