I started setting up Mila’s Shift on Draft2Digital. I’m realizing that I am going to need to curb some of my perfectionist tendencies and allow myself to make mistakes or I am never going to be able to get this done.
Finished episode 19 of Fated Mates of the Drakoan. Finished writing episode 20 today. We are approaching the All is Lost moment of the story. I’m thinking that will be in episode 21.
I set up Matched to the Alien Workaholic on Ream and posted the first scene. Also worked on another ~3k words. I need to pick up the pace, but that isn’t terrible. Just not as fast as I would have liked. I’ve been feeling a bit under the weather, so I haven’t been working as much on Mondays.
I planned out my Story Hop writing prompts for February. I have some plans for how I’ll do prompts moving forward. I’m still figuring this out as I go, so it’s a challenge picking things that will work for everyone. I’m thinking I’m going to lean into prompts that either start or end with a statement (e.g. dialog etc.) or ask you to write something from the perspective of a former character from another story. Those seem pretty straightforward for the average author to adapt, even if they’re writing very different genres. Finished the next story, A Pirate’s Life for Me (features Cass and Kou from Shifting Loot).
I did the episode 14 video of Fated Mates of the Drakoan as a livestream this time as an experiment. I might need to play with my settings again. It looked like maybe there were some bits where the quality wasn’t to my liking, but I’m thinking this might be best for consistency.
Sent an email to my mailing list on Monday. Thinking about including episodes of my serial in the emails. What do you think?
What I’m Reading
Finished Credence by Penelope Douglas. Was disappointed. Was hoping for a reverse harem and got a spoil sport with jealousy issues. What’s worse, he was an abusive spoil sport and the author seemed inconsistent with whether the FMC liked or hated that about him. She did a great job with character development and character arcs, but I just felt let down by the romance.
Stalked by the Alien Assassin by Tiffany Roberts – a much better book and one I thoroughly enjoyed. A bit long, but I didn’t care.
Currently reading Lust by Drethi Anis, which is less romance than a demon tempting you to indulge in your darkest fantasies.
Also currently reading Manhunt by Janet Evanovich again because I had a sudden impulse last night and I have no self control.
